Beginning September 23, a major road construction project will close the portion of Clark Street—the main thoroughfare in front of the National Music Museum—from Dakota Street to University Street.
This closure will mean that there is no vehicle access to the front of the NMM, or to USD parking lots located off Clark Street between Dakota Street and University Street.
Vehicular traffic is advised to use North Dakota Street when visiting the NMM. There will be limited ADA accessible and public parking available in the USD parking lot off Dakota Street, with direct sidewalk access from this lot to the NMM. Tours and other large groups/vehicles will be able to drop and pick up patrons at this parking location, but will need to utilize street parking or other USD parking facilities for their vehicles.
Free street parking will continue to be available on many streets surrounding the USD campus. Sidewalks on the North side of Clark Street will remain open for use. Visitors coming from street parking locations south of the closed portion of Clark Street will need to cross at either Dakota Street or University Street.
Signage will be posted in various locations by the NMM, USD Police, and the City of Vermillion to help guide visitors to the correct parking and entrance locations.
If you are in need of any assistance in reaching the NMM due to these detours, please contact us at (605) 658 3450, or email us at nmm@usd.edu.
Your patience is greatly appreciated, and we are excited to see you soon!
